Theatre Huntsville is a volunteer-driven community theatre. All of our talent comes from the local North Alabama area. We are always thrilled to welcome new faces to our organization, whether on stage, in the audience, as donors, or behind the scenes.
We produce five shows per season at the Von Braun Center Playhouse, typically intended for teen and adult audiences. They reflect our community’s diversity and the issues of the day with styles ranging from musicals to modern comedies to classic dramas. Our shows are celebrated for their outstanding quality, reflecting the exceptional talent of our volunteer actors and production teams.
Dedicated volunteers and a small staff drive our productions. From mastering lighting and sound to stage management and directing, we offer many opportunities for learning and involvement no matter one’s skill level or ability. Our goal is inclusivity and meeting individuals where they are.
We operate as a 501 © 3 nonprofit organization and rely on the support of grants, donations, and ticket sales to fund our productions. Volunteers yearly dedicate thousands of hours to bring our shows to life on stage.
Theatre Huntsville traces its roots back to the 1950s as Huntsville’s first theatre group, Huntsville Little Theatre. Over the decades, we’ve been a cornerstone of the local performing arts scene, nurturing creativity and bringing stories to life. In 1997, Huntsville Little Theatre and Twickenham Repertory Company, two vibrant community theatre groups, merged to create Theatre Huntsville.
