Designer who fabricates is the distinction that matters. Check Engine Lighthouse is a boutique metalwork and sculpture studio operated by Chris Bartlett, artist and designer-fabricator based in Huntsville, Alabama. His practice spans public sculpture, site-specific metalwork, and bespoke fabrication. Commercial and public art rigorous human-centered design into artistic expression.
Bartlett holds a BFA in Metal Fabrication from Louisiana Tech University and an MS in Industrial Design from Georgia Institute of Technology. His public commissions include work for Trees Atlanta, the Atlanta BeltLine Corporation, MillerCoors, and the Atlanta Braves. His permanent installation The ConNectar (2021), forty-foot corten steel and acrylic sculpture on the Atlanta BeltLine Westside Trail, was commissioned by Trees Atlanta and remains among Atlanta’s most iconic public artworks.
He approaches each commission through a structured engagement process: listening sessions, iterative design review, and close collaboration with local historians and partner organizations. His fabrication practice extends from monumental civic installation to boutique architectural metalwork for private clients.
