Free Summer Arts Events in Huntsville

Art is all over Huntsville, AL in many different forms. Though some art adventures have a cost associated with them, there are still many free arts events around town.

So, grab those kids, and your visiting family, and head out to one of these free events!

FREE Concerts & Comedy

  • Concerts in the Park, every Monday night at 6:30 pm in Big Spring Park. The last concert is August 5.
  • 805 After 5 – DHI is partnering with the Huntsville Music Office to bring a free concert series to Campus 805’s Butler Green Park, featuring a concert, yard games, vendors, craft beer, food trucks and more! Dates: May 16, June 20, July 18, August 15, September 19, and October 17.
  • Epic Comedy Hour routinely hosts free comedy shows at venues such as The Incredible Comedy Hour at OTBX and Comedy Karaoke at The Camp. Check their social media monthly for free shows.
  • Madison Arts Alliance Sound of Summer free concert series at Home Place Park. Dates: May 30, June 13, June 27, July 11, and July 25.
  • Summer Sunset Concert Series at Ditto Landing is on the 2nd Tuesday of the month – June 11, July 9, August 13, and September 10, starting at 6 pm.

FREE Art Exhibits

  • Harrison Brother’s Hardware in Downtown Huntsville exhibits local and regional works from many different disciplines. Though the art is for sale, visiting it at Harrison Brothers is free!
  • H.C. Blake Art & History Museum is open to the public, check for hours. There are resident artists whose work can be found in the gallery, plus this place is home to the Huntsville Revisited Museum.
  • Lowe Mill ARTS & Entertainment is open to the public. May artists have open studios, there are several art gallery spaces (check online to see whose work is showing) and looking and exploring is always free.

FREE Classes & Creator Opportunities

  • Free cigar box lessons at the Cigar Box Guitar Store at Lowe Mill ARTS & Entertainment, Saturday from 12-2 pm for free. Instructor Pat Nickel can teach anyone a song in one minute!
  • Dragon’s Forge Cafe at Lowe Mill also has a Second Thursday drawing meet-up starting at 5 pm. All skill levels are invited to gather together and draw at whatever skill level you bring to the table (pun intended). Check before you go to confirm event.
  • Huntsville Museum of Art hosts Drop In & Create on Saturdays for ages 3+. This free event is available from 11 am – 1 pm. Check before you go to confirm event.
  • West Coast Swing Dancing classes are free, presented by the Rocket Westies in The Royal at Stovehouse. Dance lessons on Tuesdays start at 6:30 pm, followed by open dancing until 10 pm!
  • Line Dance classes are free at The Electric Belle at Stovehouse on Wednesday nights. Lessons are taught at 6:30 pm, 7:15 pm, and 8:00 pm.
