First Friday Public Art Tours Return to City Hall in 2026
First Friday tours of City Hall’s “Our Civic Canvas” collection return in 2026, now entering their second year of bringing visitors inside Huntsville’s architectural landmark. These free, docent-led tours showcase the artwork thoughtfully integrated throughout the building, from nationally recognized artists Shuli Sadé and Cliff Garten to regional and local talents including Cal Breed, Ben Butler, Guadalupe Lanning Robinson, Cynthia Wagner, Jahni Moore, Yuri Ozaki, Ann Moeller, and David Nuttall.
City Hall opened in May 2024 as a 100-year building designed by architect Mark Coyle, with public art planned from the very beginning. The “Our Civic Canvas” exhibition, a first for any Alabama municipality, celebrates Huntsville’s culture, history, and environment through works specifically commissioned to enhance the civic space.
Tours are free, but reservations are required. You can reserve your spot online here for available dates. For more information about Arts Huntsville and its programs, please visit www.artshuntsville.org or follow us on social media: @ArtsHuntsville (Facebook and Instagram).
