Arts Huntsville is home to the Creative Launchpad, one of three pilot arts education sites established by the state in 2018 as affiliates of the Alabama Artistic Literacy Consortium. The Launchpad offers training in academically-proven Creative Teaching techniques and uses the arts to ignite imagination and innovation in North Alabama students. This program serves 6 school districts across the region, including all districts in Madison County. Additionally, the Launchpad’s free Classroom Arts Partners Guide further connects schools, teachers, and parents to arts education programming offered by Huntsville-area arts organizations and teaching artists.
In partnership with the City, Arts Huntsville led community meetings in 2015 to develop the Huntsville Public Art Master Plan. Today, Arts Huntsville manages the City’s Public Art Program, which includes site-specific commissions, individual artist development, and community engagement. A mural artist roster is launching in 2023 to connect the community to Huntsville-area muralists.
The annual Panoply Arts Festival, Concerts in the Park Series (a partnership with City of Huntsville Parks & Rec), and Monte Sano Art Festival continue to serve as Huntsville’s signature community arts events. New in 2022, Arts Huntsville partnered with The Orion Amphitheatre to launch a traditional Christkindlmarket the second weekend in December.
