Camp Juliette Low

Located on Lookout Mountain in northwest Georgia, Camp Juliette Low (CJL) is an independent, non-profit summer camp for girls ages 7-17. CJL campers live in platform tents and enjoy traditional camp activities that emphasize outdoor living skills and recreation, including canoeing, sailing, archery, ropes course, backpacking, fire-building, and horseback riding. CJL provides exciting, outdoor experiences that foster self-confidence, promote teamwork, and develop leadership skills. Through work and play, campers learn to enjoy and appreciate the outdoors, gain responsibility for self and for others, and make life-long friendships.

CJL was founded by Juliette Gordon Low, founder of the Girl Scouts, in 1922. Juliette Low selected the original 10 acres of the camp herself, including a natural rock swimming hole and a large granite outcropping known as the Soft Rocks. From the beginning, Camp Juliette Low was a place for girls and young women to develop confidence and prepare for leadership responsibilities. CJL, which has operated independently from the Girls Scouts since 1938, now encompasses more than 330 acres of beautiful mountaintop forestland. The historic Juliette Low Lodge, which is on the National Register of Historic Places, has been the hub of camp life since our first summer in 1922, and remains a testament to the camp’s history and traditions.

Camp Juliette Low has it all—outdoor adventure, time-honored traditions, and rustic beauty.
