The U.S. Space & Rocket Center (USSRC) is the most comprehensive U.S. manned spaceflight hardware museum in the world. From America’s first satellite, Explorer I, to next generation space vehicles like Sierra Nevada’s Dream Chaser, the museum showcases the past, present and future of human spaceflight. Throughout the year the USSRC displays engaging featured exhibitions to compliment the permanent collection. Our Spacedome IMAX® Theater and our National Geographic Theater transports you to different worlds with amazing documentary films like Hubble, and live demonstrations in the Discovery Theater will have you seeing space science in a whole new light.

The USSRC serves as the Official NASA Visitor Center for Marshall Space Flight Center and is an affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution. Visitors can take a Rocket Center bus tour for a drive-by view of the Marshall Space Flight facilities and experience the Huntsville Operations Support Center, Space Station Development Laboratory and historic Redstone test site by foot and marvel at the massive engine test stands. Additionally, The Center provides educational opportunities that appeal to every age. From Ultimate Field Trips, homeschool programming and day camps for K-7 students and our Science of Imagination workshops for young children to our Pass the Torch inspirational lecture series for lifelong learners, there is something to see and something to learn at the Center every day.

The U.S. Space & Rocket Center is also home to weeklong Space Camp®, Aviation Challenge® Camp and Space Camp Robotics education programs. These internationally-acclaimed immersive educational programs place trainees in authentic astronaut and pilot training, or give them the chance to design and build robots for air, land and sea, allowing them to view mathematics and science as something more than just an academic exercise. These subjects become tools to develop future careers as scientists, engineers, teachers and astronauts.
