Jessica Patmon Johnson is an Alabama born artist best know for her portrait paintings and drawings that emphasize the duality of Southern female identity. Responding to her upbringing in the Deep South, her works are conceptual narratives that wander between reality and perception from fragmented portraits that convey strength despite implied obstacles of women in both past events and contemporary society. Johnson’s work has been displayed at the Huntsville Museum of Art and the Meridian Museum of Art. Jessica Johnson studied at the University of Alabama in Birmingham and currently teaches art at the Creative and Performing Arts Magnet at Lee High School.
