American Guild of Organists—Huntsville Chapter
The AGO sponsors recitals on organs throughout Madison County, it serves as a resource for all churches and worship centers who are looking for skilled organists.
The AGO works at the public awareness of the organ, through explanatory programs (Pedals Pipes & PIzza) for all ages.
We want to bring organ music to life! To encourage interest in the instrument both for church but also for concerts (outside of worship).
Pipe Organ Encounters are summer camps for young people to explore and get to know how an organ works, as well as how to play one; some of these camps are also open to adults. These are sponsored by each region; last summer was in Birmingham, the 2012 encounter will be in Gainesville, FL.
The Local chapter provides scholarships for young people who are curious and interested in learning how to play the organ, and also serves as a resource for anyone who might like to take lessons (adult or child).
The AGO provides professional certification for people who want to sharpen or improve their organ skills and earning power.
The AGO is a resource for churches : we can help churches find organists, and assist the search process;
The AGO is a resource for people who want to find employment as an organist or church musician.
