Working in paint, clay, and with a variety of materials, S. Renee Prasil has created art all of her life. She creates murals, portraits, furniture, handmade tiles and sculptures in clay and mixed media. Whatever project she is working on is her 'favorite' at the time. Her art has been published in magazines, newspaper, and in books and commissioned for various organizations, businesses, and private homes throughout the United States. The largest corporate collectors of her paintings are Alabama Power Company (7 pieces to date) and AT&T/BellSouth-Birmingham (3 paintings). Locally, her work can be seen at the Huntsville Art League, The Arts Council of North Alabama, United Cerebral Palsy, and the National Children’s Advocacy Center (pottery), among others. Prasil designed and created, in conjunction with potter Conrad Lippert–an exclusive edition of pottery vessels for the National Children’s Advocacy Center for 2006 and 2007. Another of their collaborative vessels, designed by Renee for the Huntsville Bicentennial Show at the Huntsville Museum of Art, was honored as “Exceptional Art” during the Huntsville Art League exhibit (from 116 artworks entered into this show). She also designed and coordinated the creation of a Sculptured Tile Wall Mural (11’x8’) for United Cerebral Palsy (UCP Huntsville) that hangs in the Lobby of the TASC building on Keats Drive. She finds inspiration in everything! Sharing the joy she finds through her art, she exclaims, “I am honored when people describe my work as ‘happy’!”Renee shares her art both as a professional artist and as an arts instructor. She began the Art Ministry at Whitesburg Baptist Church (WBC) R.O.C. in 2001 and the ever-popular Hampton Cove Elementary School ‘Cove Art League’ (C.A.L.) in 2002. She continues to share her knowledge and experience with others by teaching classes for all levels and ages at the Huntsville Museum of Art and the Huntsville Art League. She also believes in the ‘power of art’-to help, to heal, to teach. In 2011, Renee completed her seventh year as a Teaching Artist with VSA, bringing art to those who have various disabilities. &
