AIDS Action Coalition
In 1988, the AIDS Action Coalition began offering support to those in the Huntsville community living with HIV/AIDS. Services were provided by volunteers and included such simple acts as bringing a client dinner or helping with a rent or mortgage payment. Money for this support came from donations given by people in the community with a willingness to help. Today the AIDS Action Coalition and Davis Clinic serves as a primary care facility for more than 600 HIV+ individuals. Our experienced medical team offers comprehensive medical care, laboratory services, medication assistance, and optometry care. For HIV positive mothers we provide coordinated OB/GYN care. For Spanish-speaking patients translation services are provided. For all patients in need, transportation to and from medical appointments are provided by the clinic at no additional cost. The AIDS Action Coalition’s social work team provides a support network for individuals and gives them a link to other social services they may need for daily living. Our team of social workers provides: - Case management - Housing, medication and emergency assistance - Psychosocial support - Nutrition counseling - Mental health assistance - Transportation In addition to care and support the AIDS Action coalition provides HIV prevention and education throughout the community. Our science-based approach is approved and funded in part by the Center for Disease Control (CDC). Guest speakers are available to provide assembly programs or small group workshops. We hope you will join us in our efforts to reduce the spread of HIV/AIDS and to improve the health of those living in our community.
