Nomadic Tapestry was established in 2005 from a desire to create and grow a community of dancers and musicians who shared their passion for middle-eastern music and belly dance. We felt the level of technique and participation in classes, workshops, and rehearsals could flourish; if only we had a dedicated space for classes. We wanted to emphasize the need for regular technique classes for developing dancers that could respectfully represent such a beautiful dance form.

Belly dance is a fun way to exercise, strengthen your core, develop self esteem, and have fun with friends. Our studio welcomes participants of any age, size, or gender. Dance should be enjoyed and experienced by everyone. As your knowledge of this dance form grows, you will discover the uniqueness of each culture’s influence and how the live music changes and enriches belly dance in many special ways.

We offer beginning to intermediate classes in many of classic, modern, and tribal fusion forms of belly dance. Also offered; middle-eastern drum, and Zumba Gold. Zills, sword, veil, and other prop classes are offered on a rotating schedule. We also bring “out of town” teachers for specialized workshops throughout the year.

Our student troupe; Lunatic Fringe; is open to any student who is dedicated, has learned the basics, can learn and perform choreographies, and is enrolled in Unlimited Classes. Regular attendance is a must for continued participation.

Middle-eastern hand drumming is the base to build on for understanding the classical music that inspired this dance form. From Arabic style to Turkish split finger; our teachers can inspire you to a life time of learning and fun. If you are a musician interested in learning classic folk tunes of Egypt, Turkey, the Balkans, and more; please contact us for more information.
