I started painting in late 2015. I mostly create abstract acrylic paintings on hardboard; however, I am interested in a wide variety of mediums and techniques. I enjoy working with texture in many of my pieces.
I have written freelance articles for The Times Daily and related publications, as well as edited several books. I am a photography hobbyist and won ribbons for some of my work during the North Alabama State Fair in 2014 and 2015. In 2016, my painting entitled “Crazy Eyes” won first place in its category. My junk art sculpture, “Owl in Flight,” was part of the 2016 Lowe Mill Recycled Art Show. In March 2017, I participated in my first juried art show at the Regional Library Arts Center in Warrior, Alabama.
My paintings have also been on display at the Kennedy-Douglass Center for the Arts, the Tennessee Valley Art Museum, and the Killen Public Library. Paintings are available at Art & More, a gallery in Florence, Alabama. I have completed one commission and am almost finished with a second.
I volunteered at the Easel Art booth during Panoply in 2016 and did face painting for the annual Harry Potter party at the Florence-Lauderdale Public Library in 2017. I have taken introductory classes on encaustics and pottery and enjoyed working with both.
My branding includes Happy Anvil Art and María Camp Fine Art. I am a member of the Shoals Artists Guild and the Huntsville Art League.
