Volunteer!

Many cultural/arts events and organizations could neither function nor even exist without the support of thousands of volunteers.  Our Arts Directory is your first step in contacting our member organizations.  Whether you can help build a set, work with children, sew costumes, answer phones, stuff envelopes, hang an exhibit, or assist with marketing and fundraising (a big need for every group!), there is a volunteer job waiting for YOU with area ARTS programs!

Of course, volunteers are ALSO a major part of The Arts Council's (TAC’s) outreach and sustainability, assisting not only at the annual Panoply Arts Festival, but serving as chairmen, co-chairmen, or assistants for pARTy, SEAFAREArt Ventures!” Summer Day Camp, and more!  Volunteer interns from area colleges can also gain valuable experience while assisting TAC in our day-to-day affairs.

Of the many opportunities for arts volunteerism, Panoply is particularly unique in that ALL activities are run by community “assistants.”  A staff of two people supervises between 150 and 200 chairmen who in turn, plan, organize, and recruit shift volunteers for their respective committees.  In fact, over 2,000 people are recruited each year to “give Panoply wings!”

Even now, Panoply 2010 Co-Chairs Ann Lee (panoplyann "at" gmail.com) & Patrice Rowe (panoplypatrice "at" gmail.com) are recruiting committee chairmen from Huntsville, Madison County, and surrounding areas.  It’s your chance to give back to our community and you, along with your fellow volunteers, are eligible for anything from a committee position to a three-hour shift during the festival weekend!  So contact Ann or Patrice and we’ll see you Friday-Sunday, April 23-25, for Panoply 2010…a feast for the senses!

In summation, the ARTS in Huntsville succeed because of YOU.  If you, your company and coworkers, your scout troop, your club members, your congregation, your sorority, fraternity, or service group, or your family, friends, and neighbors wish to be involved in bringing the ARTS to life for the benefit of all ages, call TACIf you would like to volunteer for the Panoply Arts Festival in particular, or any of TAC's other programs, please click here to download our Volunteer FormThere’s a place for everyone!

The Arts Council Presents Its 13th Annual

ART VENTURES Summer Day Camp!

It’s a GREEN THING!

Join TAC at historic Lowe Mill as we reuse-reduce and recycle and compose-create and construct!

Campers will spend each day in workshops dealing with environmentally centered lessons and activities in visual arts, dance, theatre, and music, and will also work together on a community art project and hear presentations and demonstrations from local artists!

At the end of the week, family and friends are invited to attend the Final Show on Friday night at 5:00 p.m.  This will be an eclectic showcase of everything the campers have learned while at camp!

Both full-day (9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.) and early pickup (9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.) sessions are available for age groups 6 – 9, 10 – 12, and 13 – 15 years old.  Full-day sessions are $150; early pickup sessions are $125.

New to the camp this year are feature workshops for 13- to 15-year-old campers.  These workshops will take place from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m., focus on one area of study taught by local professionals, and are $75 per student.  Specialty workshops will take place based upon registration.  Attendees may choose between photography, drama, dance, music, and literary arts.

The deadline for registration is Monday, June 14!

ART VENTURES! will take place on the following dates:

Session One:  Monday-Friday, June 21 – 25

Session Two:  Monday-Friday, June 28 – July 2
