The Arts Council, Inc. (TAC) represents and serves over 80 organizations and individuals in the greater Huntsville/Madison County area.  As a member of TAC, artists, cultural organizations, and interested supporters have the opportunity to impact the community's awareness and support of the arts and culture in our everyday lives.

BENEFITS OF MEMBERSHIP

Opportunity to influence the policy and programs of TAC through their elected representatives.  Each member organization may appoint a delegate to TAC Assembly, which in turn elects three members of TAC's board of directors on a three-year rotation (1 elected per year).  The current delegates are:

Susan Stricklin

Jodi Weiner
Leslie Bofill

Meet for informal discussions of arts community issues at monthly Assembly (TAC members) meetings.  THUGs (Theater Users Group) and CHUGs (Concert Hall Users Group) meet as needed to coordinate VBC scheduling or address issues related to using the VBC Playhouse or Concert Hall.  Typically, assembly meetings are held the third Wednesday of each month (except August and December) at 5:30 p.m. at The Arts Council Meeting Room.  However, other venues are occasionally announced, including visits to the "homes" of member organizations!

Through Monday, July 12, TAC’s JavaGalleria will feature the works of both our Panoply Arts Festival 2010 Emerging Artist Tent, presented by Public FA, and the Art Educators Tent.

Up-and-coming visual artists between the ages of 17 and 27 (or artists of any age currently enrolled in a studio art course at the college level) and who have never had a gallery contract are eligible for the “Emerging Artist” designation.  Represented artists include Ashley Dinges, Ankica Mitrovska, Matthew Knopps, Bob Gile, Jacob Letsholo, Jamal Turner, Chris Wade, Janette Jamar, Tabatha Jarmulowicz, L. Blaksley, and Xavier Lacy.

Panoply's Art Educator’s Tent showcases the work of artists who have actively taught art classes in public/private elementary and secondary schools or colleges/universities prior to April 2010.  The works of Jill Johnson, Cara Fuller, Natalie Cook, and Roxie Veasey will also be featured in the exhibit.

Each piece will be available for sale to the public at a price determined by the artist.  A percentage of each sale is retained by
TAC to help fund Arts Education and Community Outreach programs conducted throughout the year.  For further information on TAC, including the Panoply Arts Festival and our visual arts galleries, call (256) 519-2787 (ARTS), ext. 206.
