THE LEE DEAL & FRIENDS THEATRE ENDOWMENT

“BUILDING ON THE LEGACY”

The Lee Deal & Friends Theatre Endowment will financially support the appearance of guest artists at annual, theatrically based enrichment events (e.g. seminars, lectures, workshops, master classes) through the UAH Theatre Program.  Open to the entire North Alabama Theatre Community, these events will benefit both UAH students and the community at large – even influencing career paths and changing lives.

Conceived, created, and supported by both local community theatre members/organizations and /organizations and The Arts Council, this unique Endowment promises to positively impact both local artists and audiences for decades by enriching and educating the entire theatre community.

The Endowment is named for Lee Deal, a former UAH student and local community theatre icon for nearly thirty years.  Lee’s love of theatre inspired him to work with virtually every theatre group in our area.

Although his untimely death in May 2007 was the inspiration for the Endowment, it is certainly not limited to Lee’s memory.  Contributions may be made in memory of, or to honor, anyone who has or continues to further local theatre by working to produce shows or by attending and enjoying them (please indicate)!

Since the Endowment will be used to fund educational/enrichment opportunities for the entire local Theatre Community, it will become a living tribute to not only Lee but to all who came before him, to all who worked with him, to those currently active in the theatre community, and to all those who will follow.  In this way, the Endowment will build on the fine legacy of community theatre excellence that so many people have worked and continue to work so tirelessly to create.

Your support of the valuable opportunities the Lee Deal and Friends Theatre Endowment will provide will be greatly appreciated.

Panoply Arts Festival - 2010!

Panoply Arts Festival

PANOPLY has been a Huntsville Tradition for over a quarter century!  Held each April in downtown Huntsville’s Big Spring International Park, Von Braun Center, and Huntsville Museum of Art, this three-day outdoor festival features presentations, demonstrations, workshops, fireworks, and FUN…while promoting and enhancing the arts.

Over the years, PANOPLY has evolved into The South’s Most All-Embracing ARTStravaganza offering the perfect family environment through activities that children, teens, and adults alike can share and enjoy, from our “Global Village” (a doorway into our area’s diversity) to FREE hands-on activities to the “Official Alabama State Fiddling Championship,” “Homegrown Talent Contest,” “Ten-Minute Playwright Competition,” annual Choreography Competition, Art Marketplace, “Joyful Noise” tent, and MORE!  Boasting weekend crowds of over 125,000 attendees, it’s no wonder the Southeast Tourism Society continually ranks PANOPLY among their “Top Twenty Events” and Gov. Riley declared it one of Alabama’s “Top 10 Tourism Events.”

So follow the excited crowds eagerly racing to an even bigger-and-better Panoply 2010(Friday-Sunday, April 23 (5:00-9:00 p.m.), April 24 (10:00 a.m.-9:00 p.m.), & April 25 (Noon-8:00 p.m.)—continuing to delight North Alabama, the Tennessee Valley, and the entire region—it’s truly a spectacle for the mind’s eye!
