The Arts Council, Inc. of Huntsville, Alabama, established in October 1962, receives funding from the City of Huntsville, the Madison County Commission, the Jane K. Lowe Foundation, the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA, a Federal agency), and the Alabama State Council on the Arts (ASCA), as well as contributions and sponsorships from Tennessee Valley businesses, corporations, and individuals.

“JavaGalleria” Artist’s Reception—Join The Arts Council, Inc. at the reception for Joyce Lowery at JavaGalleria @ Sam and Greg’s Pizzeria/Gelateria, 119 Northside Square.  Lowery’s creations embrace mixed media; she sees them “as a continuing conversation between the person who sees my work and the images that appear as I apply the paint in a playful manner” (www.joyce-studio.com).  Reception begins at 5:00 p.m.; exhibition continues through mid-September.  (Remember:  photographer Jeff White’s exhibit continues through mid-August!)  Gallery/Artist Info:  (256) 519-2787 (ARTS), ext. 206; Café info/hours:  (256) 533-9030 or www.samandgregs.com.
